A SLP also provide support for cognitive processes for those with dementia, acquired brain injury, developmental disorders. Clinical practice environments include hospital, rehabilitation, long term care, and community settings. Services may also be effectively provided via Telehealth.

People often think that "speech" and "language" are the same thing. Speech is the ability of the motor and nervous system to produce accurate, meaningful sounds while language is the complex process of knowing which words you want to convey, planning how you want to combine them, and connecting with your motor system to convey them.
